Walleye: Trolling bite, anywhere from a mile and a half SE of Kelleys down to dumping ground off Cedar Point and East from there, has been excellent. Lots of pockets of walleyes in that area. Scorpion Stinger Spoons have been the lure choice and better colors of late have been green/orange combinations. Casters have had luck right out of West Harbor early and late. Once a lot of boats get there, forget it. They call it Short Reef for a reason.
Perch: In July and August, through August 12, perch fishing was fantastic in the Western Basin. From August 13, (someone turned a switch that day), the perch catches hit the category of very sad. However, there has been improvement in the past week. During the past 2 days, the word "limit" is being heard here. D Can on the East end of the firing range has been very good with limits being caught there. G and H Can to the west have also been steady spots but you have to grind it out there some days. West Reef area has also been good. Not hearing anything around Kelleys or up the middle between the Islands consistently, but hopefully, those areas will turn on again soon.
Lake Erie Emeralds are still in the slim to none category. We did have them a week ago. Unfortunately, they didn't last long and we haven't seen any since. We currently have live goldies and frozen emeralds.
Good Luck and good fishing!
Rick, In our 40th. year, because of you...
